Developing quality managment systems based on NATO standard AQAP 2110
AQAP-2110 is an international standard that builds on the ISO 9001 requirements for a quality management system, but complements them with specific NATO requirements. This standard is used in the evaluation of NATO suppliers (it is one of the evaluation criteria in NATO tendering or supplier evaluation systems).
AQAP-2110 sets out the requirements for design, development and production.
Originally 3 different standards were used – AQAP-2110, AQAP-2120 and AQAP-2130, but from 2016 AQAP-2110 (Edition D, Version 1) replaces the previous versions of the standards. AQAP-2120 set out the requirements for manufacturing only and AQAP-2130 for inspection and testing.
In itself, there is nothing complicated. The ISO 9001 standard requires the existence of a management system at a basic level to ensure that the promises made to the customer are fulfilled. In terms of documentation, it requires the establishment and maintenance of processes that are essential to the organisation and the systematic collection and analysis of various types of evidence. In addition to the requirements of the ISO 9001 standard, there are specific NATO requirements in several new areas, e.g. the development of NATO compliant quality plans, configuration management, etc..
Our team has extensive experience with helping organisations to develop and implement standardized and non-standardized management systems. We help to develop processes, implement changes, carry out analysis, development meetings, audits and training for staff.
